How-To: White Tee Chic

If you’re like me, you love your trusty, white t-shirt. There’s something safe about the comfortable staple that has made a home in your closet since your freshman year in college. These basics are a must during the weekend; but little did you know, a white t-shirt could make it into your weekday wardrobe and even a Saturday night-out ensemble. Try some of these trends to instantly boost your favorite tee’s swag.

 1. For a pop of color and some inevitable head-turns, add a floral or patterned blazer on top of a white t-shirt, navy slacks and nude flats. For celeb-inspiration, check out Jessica Alba’s effortless look. Get it for less here.

 2. A knee-length skirt is perfect for a day-to-night look. Try a colorful, full skirt with a tucked-in white tee and flats for work. Then swap the flats for pumps and you are ready for that date! Olivia Munn knows how to rock this simple yet elegant ensemble. Find it for less here.

3. For an effortlessly cool look, pair a white t-shirt with leather shorts and colorful pumps like Miranda Kerr. (Tucking your t-shirt into high-waisted leather shorts would look great, too!) Get the look for less here.

 4. Skorts (the cross between shorts and a skirt) are this summer’s hottest fashion piece. For an edgy, cosmopolitan vibe pair a skort with a white tee and strappy sandals. For celeb-inspiration, check out Lucy Watson’s chic look. Get it for less here.

5. Last but not least, exchange your routine denim with a pair of fitted, patterned slacks. The dressier design will instantly take your look to the next level. Pair this ensemble with metallic flats during the day, then exchange those flats for pointed-toe pumps to bring this look into the evening with a bang. Find it for less here.

P.S. My favorite white basic is from Splendid. I wear it everywhere–from the gym to a bar. (Don’t worry, I wash it first!) Find my look here.

How-To Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth This Fourth of July

1. Red, White, and Blue-berry Shortcake

The best summer dessert. Whip up (no pun intended) some homemade whipped cream (Cool-Whip would work, too) and yummy vanilla scones.  Next, add scone crumbs into the whipped cream, along with some sweetened chopped strawberries and blueberries! Find the recipe here.

2. Patriotic Yogurt-Covered Strawberries

Grab some fresh strawberries and Americanize them!  Instead of traditional chocolate covered strawberries, glitz them up and use yogurt instead! (You can also substitute white chocolate, if you would like.) Then, before the strawberries are completely dry, dip the ends in blue edible glitter. Ta-da! Find the recipe here.

3. Americanize Your Cupcakes

Cupcakes are a hot trend right now.  Try these festive cupcakes by dyeing vanilla cupcakes blue (with a few drops of food dye).  When they are baked and cool, add vanilla frosting and red star sprinkles!  Find the recipe here.

4. Uncle Sam’s Favorite Whoopie Pies

Whoopie Pies are like new and improved Oreo Cookies.  Try some Americanized whoopie pies by making red and blue sugar cookies (food dye will be your best friend this week) and then adding some cool whip in between blue and red cookies.  Find the recipe here.

5. Stars & Stripes Cookie Pizza

If you are in charge of dessert on Friday, you should try this!  First spread sugar cookie dough out on a rectangular pan and bake it.  Then add your white frosting (I used half cream cheese and half marshmallow fluff) and atop that, create an American flag using blueberries as the stars and chopped strawberries as the stripes.  Find the recipe here.

On June 26, 2013, HudsonMOD magazine toasted to another year of a “Life Well Lived” with an unforgettable anniversary event.  The invitation-only event celebrated a second prosperous year for the luxury magazine.  Held at the beautiful Maritime Parc in Jersey City, NJ, the affair was a guaranteed success.

The night started out hot with Diem Brown hosting the red carpet as over 350 guests arrived.  The attendees were then invited to enjoy cocktails courtesy of Bacardi and Grey Goose, as well as delicious fare. To add to the elegant atmosphere and stunning view of the New York City skyline, guests took pleasure in an outdoor signature scotch and cigar bar.

This year’s host committee included David Cote, Maria Cucciniello Falzo, Eric Dahler, Daya Fernandez, and Scott Waldman.  Their extraordinary work made the night a huge victory for all.  In addition, it would not have been the same without the phenomenal sponsors consisting of ECRU New York, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bacardi, Grey Goose, Audi Meadowlands, Benzel-Busch Motor Car Corp, CHANEL, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, K.Hovnanian, and Clive Christian.

Icons attend 5th Annual Rival Golf Classic at Plainfield Country Club

On June 23, 2014, the 5th annual Rival Golf Classic was held at the Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey.  The successful event wouldn’t have been the same without the support and sponsorship of Dr. Pepper, Snapple and Kellogs.

This year’s outing hosted numerous esteemed professional athletes and well-known faces including former New York Giants linebacker and co-host of the event, Harry Carson, as well as Dick Vermeil, former NFL coach, Lawrence Taylor, former New York Giants linebacker, Ed “Too Tall” Jones, former Dallas Cowboys defensive end, Thomas “Hollywood” Henderson, former Dallas Cowboys linebacker, Maurice DuBois, CBS Anchor, and many other prominent names.

The executives from Aston Martin Summit | Short Hills appreciated their inclusion in the event because, in addition to the renowned faces that were in attendance, there was an honorary medal ceremony administered by the National Guard.

The guardsmen presented the Distinguised Service Medal to the family of Matthew Laporte, a proud member of the Corps of Cadets at Virginia Tech University and a heartbreaking fatality of the VT massacre in 2007. The medal ceremony was certainly a highlight of this year’s golf tournament.  Everyone in attendence was moved upon hearing of Matthew LaPorte’s valor on that devastating day.

In addition to the ceremony and round of golf, the guests were invited to enjoy a Macallen Scotch tasting, Cohiba and Macanudo Cigar tastings, and an assortment of bites and spirits presented at a few of the holes.

Those in attendance hoped for a hole-in-one, which would warrant a free Aston Martin car provided by Aston Martin Summit | Short Hills.  Unfortunately, no one was successful. Better luck next time!

After a fun and eventful day at Plainfield Country Club, the guests enjoyed summery cocktails and dined in the company of the acclaimed icons.

The Hip Event Does AC

On Friday, June 20th, The Hip Event and a few of our close friends, including Skeery Jones and Maxwell from z100, got to ‘DO AC’ and check out surprise destinations all over Atlantic City, NJ.

“We were treated like celebrities all night,” said Caitlin D’Elia, a guest on the nightclub on wheels, “in exchange for tweeting and posting photos of our crazy antics on our own social media pages.”

Our night began at Teak on the Hudson, Hoboken, NJ, where we devoured delicious appetizers and mingled with our newfound friends. Around 8pm, the crew of amped attendees boarded the bus where we were greeted with bottles of champagne and select beers to swig while we cruised down to Atlantic City. DJ Nigel Richards, globe-trotting DJ since the 1990’s, set the mood and kept everyone dancing for the long ride.

“DJ Nigel Richards jumped to the top of my favorites list after Friday night. He kept the bus alive and jumping for the entire trip!” said Chris Malecki, one of many men on the bus.

The first surprise stop off on our ‘DO AC’ trip was Scores at Trump Taj Mahal.  We were given bottle service on the rooftop bar, as well as sliders, mini taquitos, veggie platters and pizza to snack on. Everyone mingled outside and talked about their guesses for our next stop!

“The food at Scores was amazing,” said Sam Whalen, a guest on the bus, “free booze, free food and free entry into clubs; I could do this every weekend!”

Ivan Kayne’s Royal Jelly, a burlesque nightclub at Revel, was the last hoorah for the night.  We arrived around midnight and as soon as you walked into the club you could feel the enthusiasm. There were dancers all over the place, a live saxophone player, and great tunes that set the mood such as Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” and KISS’ “I Wanna Rock and Roll All Night.” At the finale of the show, we found ourselves floating in colorful ticker tape.

“The night was truly incredible. I am so glad I got to be apart of this experience! I can’t wait to bring my friends back to Royal Jelly! Who knew!” said Rachael LePore, another guest on the ‘nightclub on wheels.’

Finally, around 2:30am, we were headed back to the bus. Slightly disappointed, as everyone was having such a good time! But back to Hoboken we went! Think free alcohol, free club access, and free food is a lot? The ‘DO AC’ crew greeted us with ‘DO AC’ slippers and ‘DO AC’ pillows that we could sprawl out on and relax for the ride home. Exciting ‘DO AC’ prizes were given out to some of our guests as well, which included a ‘DO AC’ towel, tote, and shaker!

Would we do it again? ABSOLUTELY! Do we suggest you ‘DO AC?’ YES! The ‘DO AC’ experience was overall an amazing adventure – one we will never forget!
