Hi everyone, I’m Nya, the new intern here at the Hip Event. When I started I was so nervous, because this is my first internship and I wasn’t totally sure what to expect.
Most people think that public relations and event planning is an easy job. Interning here has taught me that a day’s work can be fun, but it is definitely work. While working with The Hip Event I have learned many new skills and brushed on my existing skills. I am currently learning how to use new programs such as Cision and Constant Contact, which I didn’t know existed. I’m also learning the importance of research and paying attention to detail. In addition, I’m starting to get a better sense of being professional; from blogging and tweeting professionally to answering the phone professionally. Everyday is different and a new experience!
The best approach to any new internship is to just take it step by step and ask a lot of questions. It’s a lot of work, but I’m taking in so much new information. The key to getting a handle on all the new material is to ask questions and take notes. Always remember that everyone has a first day somewhere and it’s always nerve racking, but just ask questions and take everything as a new learning experience.
This internship has given me the opportunity to do hands-on work and I have learned a lot through it. Everyday I am excited for my daily lesson in PR and I look forward to my future in PR after college!
