Intern Nicole here again! This week I took a break from the boutiques and headed over to Squirrel & The Bee in Short Hills. This bake shop may look small but what’s inside packs a yummy punch!
Squirrel & The Bee is a grainless bake shop located on Millburn Avenue in Short Hills that offers everything from vegan to gluten-free treats. With a variety of muffins, granola, cookies, soups, and salads, it is the perfect place to meet up with a girlfriend for lunch or sit and relax with your laptop (thanks to the free Wi-Fi of course). You can also indulge in the dairy-free ice cream for a midday treat!
One of my favorite parts of the shop was the beautifully decorated chalkboard menu. Let’s just soak that in for a second…
and some more…
Between the comfy environment and delicious food, you forget that you’re eating healthy treats! I tried a chocolate chip muffin and fell in love. It was an average size yet it filled me up all the way until lunch. It definitely beat out alot of other muffins I have had and it was gluten and dairy free as well as paleo diet friendly. Guilt-free, right?!
The owner, Michelle, informed me that the business is booming and recently had a very complimentary feature in the New York Times! She was busy planning an event when I first walked in so it seems to me like this place is not slowing down any time soon. I recommend you make a visit before they go big time!
